In May 2014, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang made a four day visit to Nigeria, Angola, Kenya and Ethiopia. It was during this visit that an Economic, Trade and Culture Round Table discussion was arranged. SouthWest Energy was one of the few Ethiopian private companies to be invited to participate and Chairman Tewodros Ashenafi had the opportunity to meet Premier Li.
During the same series of meetings, Mr Ashenafi also had the pleasure of meeting former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
